An adrenaline inducing First recovery for Sam to say the least.
We received a call on Thursday to notify us that a Digger was stolen just south of Leicester – and was giving us a new cell location in Rugby, 20 miles North of the original location. On arrival, RF led us to a scrap yard where a drone was deployed and captured aerial footage of a lorry being loaded with various goods. We attended a nearby police station and officers arrived around 40 minutes later, but by then the RF signal had gone and the tracker updated to new cell site heading south on the M1.
We followed the live tracking down the Motorway for over 130 miles until finally, a faint RF was detected alongside a moving lorry in Ashford – concerned that it could just be a removed tracker despite us not receiving any alarms. Once the lorry was identified, we called 999 and followed it while in direct contact with police, ensuring it doesn’t get to Dover before we got support. The lorry exited the motorway into a truck stop, where we pursued it in and alerted site security that a stolen digger was inside. Police arrived shortly after and instructed the driver to open the curtain side, revealing the tracked Kubota K-008. Excellent support from Kent Police throughout, with over 400 miles covered to successfully recover another stolen machine!
