Automatrics were deployed to London following the theft of a high-value telehandler, marking the first stolen telehandler recovery featured on our channel. With the machine protected by an MTrack plant security tracking system, our recovery team began a challenging search operation in one of the most difficult urban environments we have encountered.
The investigation led us through the Millwall area of London, where dense buildings, metal structures, underground locations, and severe GPS signal obstruction created significant challenges. Urban canyons, reinforced concrete, steel barriers, and thick walls made it extremely difficult to obtain reliable location data, turning the recovery into an intensive search operation lasting more than eight hours.
Plant machinery theft remains a major issue across the UK, with stolen telehandlers often targeted by organised criminal groups due to their high value and demand. Using specialist GPS and RF tracking technology, Automatrics worked to determine whether the stolen telehandler was still at the reported location or if the criminals had discovered and removed the tracking device.
