We were contacted by a construction company on a Monday after their yard had been raided over the weekend. They reported a loss of approximately £35,000 worth of equipment. One of the stolen tools had an MTrack hidden inside — something thieves often overlook in small handheld tools. The tool was taken from Swindon and was now showing a new GPS location in Bridgend.
After arriving at the site, we alerted the police, who came three hours later. Richard then showed them where the strongest RF signal was coming from in the yard. It led them to a secure container with glass windows. The police explained that they would need an emergency warrant to enter the yard due to its secure fences, and they would likely return at 7:30 AM to speak with the yard’s owners.
At 3:30 AM, Richard was woken up in his car by the police and fire brigade, as the emergency warrant had been unexpectedly granted. This allowed them to break in and search the yard. Inside the container, they found all of the stolen tools, alongside a box full of paint? Strange. These tools were then returned to the construction company.
A big thank you to South Wales Police and Fire Brigade for their quick action and proactive approach. The fire brigade’s training was put to good use as they broke into the doors!
We’ve posted the full recovery video on our YouTube channel.
